The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, formerly known as the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, is a professional body that was established in 1959 to promote the field of cost and management accounting in India. It is a statutory body under an Act of Parliament, and its members are recognized as cost and management accountants under the Companies Act, 1956. The institute has played a vital role in the development of cost and management accounting in India and has been instrumental in producing highly skilled professionals in the field.
